This statement contains the four major components that drive the success of the kitchen manager. They are the primary focuses under which all daily tasks are executed. It takes all four working simultaneously to have the kitchen operating at the highest level. Each focus is broken out below:

LEAD A MOTIVATED TEAM – LEADERSHIP
The statement begins with leadership, as it is the most important part of being a successful kitchen manager. Effective leadership is the backbone that supports all other elements of the job, and filters into each daily task. Managers put out fires and leaders keep them from happening. Working in the kitchen is hot, hard work and it can be a challenge to keep the staff motivated. Part of leading the team is keeping morale high, and a great kitchen manager keeps the staff motivated to “wash, rinse, repeat” each day through a positive attitude, their own hard work and empowering the staff. A motivated staff member is highly productive and loyal. They find purpose in the job and do their part to clear the path for the KM.

EFFICIENT TEAM – COST CONTROL
We strive to create value for our guests by serving high quality food at an affordable price point. Our goal is to drive weekly repeat business. In order to fulfill these goals we must be a lean and efficient business. The kitchen is where the most efficiency must take place. The diligent focus on food and labor costs is a primary focus for the kitchen manager. The KM leads the kitchen staff in the cost goals for the restaurant and constantly monitors the progress.

MAKES QUICK QUALITY FOOD – EXECUTION
Pizza is what brings our guests in the door and making great pizza keeps them coming back. The standard of quality in the menu is a daily focus for the KM. We are only as good as our last pizza and that urgency to deliver the highest quality product with each buzz of a kitchen printer should be driven by the KM. The KM is responsible for incorporating these items into the kitchen and executing them at the highest level.

CLEAN AND SAFE ENVIROMENT – STANDARDS
Our guests trust us each time they eat and drink with us. It is a responsibility that must be held up to the highest standard. A focus on cleanliness and food safety is paramount each shift. The standards that are set by the KM with regards to cleanliness set the tone for all other standards in the kitchen. It is the constant maintenance and upkeep of the facility, equipment and wares along with the proper handling of food and personal hygiene that fulfill this responsibility.
