ATLANTA, September 26, 2023 – Throughout October, Mellow Mushroom restaurants across the country will support breast cancer awareness by donating a portion of the proceeds from sales of the new seasonal “Go Pink” cocktail and special ribbon-shaped pretzels to Susan G. Komen®, the world’s largest nonprofit source of funding for the fight against breast cancer.

Starting September 26th and throughout the month of October, Mellow Mushroom will be going pink in a big way:

Pretzels will be reshaped to represent the pink ribbons associated with Breast Cancer Awareness.
Mellow Mushroom will donate $1 from the sale of every “Go Pink” Cocktail and ribbon-shaped pretzel order (online and in-store) to Susan G. Komen.
Mellow Mushroom will donate $5 to Susan G. Komen for every $25 gift card purchase online and guests will also receive a $5 bonus.**

“We want to make an impact in the fight against breast cancer in a very Mellow way,” says Anne Mejia, Vice President of Brand Development at Mellow Mushroom. “Mellow Mushroom’s beverage team crafted a uniquely pink cocktail — using Casamigos Reposado as its key ingredient — and our culinary team transformed our popular pretzel munchie into a ‘breast cancer’ ribbon to make a very Mellow impact on this important cause.”

This year, close to 300,000 individuals will be diagnosed with breast cancer and nearly 44,000 people will die from the disease. The work to find the cures is showing progress as the breast cancer mortality rate decreased by 43% from 1989 to 2020 mainly because of improved breast cancer treatment and early detection.*

“Go Pink” Cocktail Sales in October Support Komen Efforts

The “Go Pink” cocktail was created by the Mellow Mushroom beverage team to support the “Go Pink” fundraising campaign. The cocktail is a perfect balance of sweet and tart featuring Casamigos Reposado Tequila with lime and cranberry juices. It is garnished with a lemon twist and a pink ribbon shaped stir stick. Mellow Mushroom has also created breast cancer ribbon-shaped pretzels to accompany the cocktail. The “Go Pink” cocktail and ribbon-shaped pretzels will be available September 26, 2023 through October 31, 2023.

ATLANTA, July 10, 2023 – Mellow Mushroom has created a thirst-quenching new summer cocktail. The “Strawberry Shakedown” is the latest addition to Mellow Mushroom’s Liquid Karma Cocktails.

The Strawberry Shakedown is a handcrafted punch featuring Tito’s Vodka, fresh strawberries, and citrus topped with a dash of Angostura Bitters. The recipe may be simple, but this cocktail is big on taste.

“Mellow Mushroom is known primarily for hand-tossed stone-baked pizzas, however, we also offer a delicious variety of handcrafted mocktails and cocktails,” says Anne Mejia, VP Brand Development, Mellow Mushroom. “Our latest cocktail creation, Strawberry Shakedown, can be enjoyed while patio dining with family, colleagues, or friends.”

Key Ingredients – Strawberry Shakedown

ATLANTA (May 31, 2023) – Mellow Mushroom is hitting it out of the park by bringing the iconic Skyline Chili, a local favorite, to a hot new menu item called “The Cincy Pizza.” Filled with delicious goodness, this unique pizza pays homage to Cincinnati.

The Cincy Pizza starts with Cincinnati’s own Skyline Chili as a base, then covers it with mozzarella, all beef kosher hot dogs, and finely shredded cheese, drizzled with a swirl of mustard and hot sauce. The finishing touch…oyster crackers sprinkled on top. “The Cincy Pizza” is only available at the West Chester and Wilder Mellow Mushroom locations for a limited time.

ATLANTA, April 17, 2023 — Mellow Mushroom has won the inaugural 2023 “Keg Champion Award” from the Steel Keg Association (SKA) in the Regional Restaurant Category. The new awards program was created by SKA to celebrate leading restaurants, bars, and breweries for embracing the remarkable benefits reusable steel kegs deliver: sustainability, efficiency, and a fresh consumer experience.

“Mellow Mushroom has had an environmental and sustainability focus since we were founded in 1974, from our recyclable pizza boxes to our vegan menu options,” said Anne Mejia, VP, Brand Development, Mellow Mushroom. “Mellow Mushroom is honored to be recognized by the Steel Keg Association with this inaugural ‘Keg Champion Award.”

Across the Mellow Mushroom collection of restaurants, more than 7000 unique draft beers were poured from steel kegs in 2022. In addition, the company offers a vegan menu, uses recycled pizza boxes, has transitioned to recycled paper bags and paper straws, and eliminated all single-use plastic containers.

Mount Dora, FL (March 30, 2023) – Pizza lovers have reason to celebrate. April 3, 2023, marks the opening of a completely renovated Mellow Mushroom with new owners at the restaurant in Mount Dora. It is located at 18221 US-441, Mount Dora, FL, 32757. Chuck and Stacey Votey have 19 years of experience operating Mellow Mushroom restaurants and this is their fourth Mellow Mushroom restaurant in the Orlando area.

Mellow Mushroom’s stone-baked pizzas, great local brews, and hand-crafted cocktails, along with freshly made salads and a wide assortment of munchies, will be available for dine-in guests as well as online ordering.

New Design Highlights

The restaurant features an open floor plan and vibrant design with a large indoor/outdoor bar and outdoor patio. These details provided inspiration for the restaurant and are woven throughout the interior.

LYNCHBURG, VA, March 21, 2023 – On Wednesday, March 22, staff and volunteers at Horizon Behavioral Health will be the first beneficiaries of Mellow Mushroom’s recent “Pie for A Pie” community effort. On Pi Day (March 14), Lynchburg area residents heard the call and purchased pizzas in support of this initiative to support the healthcare community. Mellow Mushroom – Lynchburg will deliver pizzas to Horizon Behavioral Health staff at a special luncheon on March 22 at 11:30 a.m.

The pizza lunch will be delivered to Horizon Behavioral Health staff at its 999 Lakeview Drive location.

“This community has supported our Mellow Mushroom since we opened a few years ago and we feel it is important for us to give back to those who work so hard to keep us all healthy,” said local Mellow Mushroom store co-owner Brit Campbell. “We’re grateful to our neighbors for supporting us so we can support these important community members!”

Matt Hartsook, Chief Financial Officer for Horizon Behavioral Health, says, “We are so grateful to the community we serve and Mellow Mushroom – Lynchburg for providing a special lunch for our employees.”

Horizon Behavioral Health provides mental health, substance use and intellectual disability services in the City of Lynchburg, and the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell. Horizon promotes the health, independence and self-worth of those living in Central Virginia by providing community-based treatment, prevention, early intervention and other services for those affected by mental health, intellectual disabilities, substance use and co-occurring disorders.

The Mellow Mushroom Lynchburg restaurant was named best pizza for the 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards by The News and Advance. The fan-favorite restaurant serving Lynchburg, Bedford, Campbell, Amherst, and surrounding areas also won third place in the Readers Choice Awards for Best Sports Bar.

Ocala, FL, March 13, 2023 – Construction on a new Mellow Mushroom restaurant began in historic downtown Ocala, Florida. The new location will be located at 2 SW Fort King Street, Ocala, in The Goldman Peek building and site of the former historic Cloeman building. Local restaurant entity Harddy, LLC will own and operate Mellow Mushroom Ocala. This is the first restaurant Harddy, LLC has opened with Homegrown Industries of Georgia dba Mellow Mushroom.

Mellow Mushroom Ocala will be 4,793 square feet with 128 interior seats and 28 seats on the patio. Like all Mellow Mushroom locations, this one will have its own unique style and decor. Some of the highlights will include an interior mural by artist Ruben Ubiera, out of Miami, FL, and an exterior neon sign.

LYNCHBURG, VA, March 13, 2023 – Local residents will make Pi Day (March 14) extra special for the hardworking medical staff at two health care facilities in Lynchburg. Workers and volunteers at Horizon Behavioral Health and Johnson Health Center (JHC) will be the beneficiaries of Mellow Mushroom’s “Pie for A Pie” community effort. On Pi Day, every pizza purchased (dine in, to go, online) turns into one pizza pie donated to staff and volunteers at the two healthcare providers.

Pizzas must be purchased on March 14 from the Mellow Mushroom – Lynchburg location on 1220 Greenview Drive.

“This community has supported our Mellow Mushroom since we opened a few years ago and we feel it is important for us to give back to those who work so hard to keep us all healthy,” said local Mellow Mushroom store co-owner Brit Campbell. “We’re encouraging our neighbors to join us for lunch or dinner at Mellow Mushroom on March 14 so we can support these important community members!”

The first Mellow Mushroom location opened by this group is located in Brier Creek, North Carolina.

The new Mellow Mushroom Holly Springs is located at 100 Collins Crossing Road (Suite 101) near State Route 55 and Ralph Stephens Road.
