ATLANTA/VIRGINIA BEACH (September 30, 2022) – A new 8000+ square foot Mellow Mushroom restaurant in Virginia Beach will anchor a renovated 214 room hotel — the Sheraton Virginia Beach Oceanfront — creating a new focal point for dining, tourism, and economic development in the area. The Mellow Mushroom has transformed the corner of Atlantic Avenue and 35th Street, with a commanding stainless steel rotating globe of the world and a dynamically beautiful Mad Steetz, Mark Paul Deen, mural. The restaurant will become a landmark for residents and visitors.

The cornerstone of Mellow Mushroom are stone-baked pizzas featuring a crust made from five simple ingredients, including water from Appalachian mountain springs. Other menu highlights are freshly made salads, handcrafted cocktails, and a wide selection of beers, many of them local.

In keeping with the culture of Mellow Mushroom, the restaurant will have unique one-of-a-kind decor that is reflected in the artwork and design. The artwork curated for this site ties back to Bossa Nova-inspired patterning, musical elements, and Brazilian flowers. Virginia Beach welcomed some of the early Brazilian influenced Bossa Nova musicians.

In addition to the main dining room, there is an indoor/outdoor glassed-in patio and an outdoor patio and bar with multiple televisions, decorative topiary walls and the illuminated rotating wonderland globe.

ATLANTA (January 4, 2022) – With the new year and a renewed focus on health, Mellow Mushroom, the originators of hand-tossed, stone-baked classic Southern pizza, is adding two new limited time only vegan pizzas to their menu featuring Follow Your Heart® Dairy-Free Cheeses. The launch comes in support of Veganuary, which encourages people to try vegan for the month of January and beyond with the goal of helping to protect the planet and improve human health.

A plant-based diet can improve your health and support environmental sustainability. Mellow Mushroom has partnered with leading plant-based pioneer, Follow Your Heart, and nonprofit Veganuary to encourage consumers to take the one month pledge.   • The “Miss Mushroom” pizza features spinach, minced garlic, portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, chives, Follow Your Heart Vegan Mozzarella, and Follow Your Heart Vegan Feta Crumbles.
  • The “Greek Goddess” pizza features roasted tomatoes, minced garlic, kalamata olives, and caramelized onions, Follow Your Heart Vegan Mozzarella, and Follow Your Heart Vegan Feta Crumbles.

ATLANTA (February 3, 2022) – Margaritas are America’s favorite cocktail, and Mellow Mushroom, the coolest creators of hand-tossed stone-baked pizza, celebrates National Margarita Day February 22 by mixing up four refreshing drinks under a new ‘Mystic Margaritas’ umbrella.

How mellow does a margarita make you? Mellow Mushroom surveyed thousands of its customers in January about how margaritas fit into their mellow lives. They found:

  • “Any Place with a View” is the best place to sip a margarita. Other favorite spots include “my couch,” “my favorite little bar,” and “anywhere the party is!”
  • With whom do you share the Mellow? “My crew, of course!” took the top spot. Runners up included “date night,” “my furry friends,” and “family.”

“Margaritas are a top seller on our beverage menu and the new ‘Mystic Margarita’ theme mixes well with our eclectic Mellow culture,” says Anne Mejia, VP Brand Development, Mellow Mushroom. “The Margarita has been one of our best-selling cocktails for a long time. Over the past year, Mellow Mushroom has worked with Casamigos to develop three new cocktails to round out our margarita menu offerings.” 

Each of the four signature margarita cocktails is hand-crafted from proprietary recipes and each one features Casamigos tequila, resulting in four unique flavor profiles and a premium margarita experience.

  • Why Salt the Rim? It makes it easier to drink! Salt intensifies the sweet and sour flavors of the tequila, agave, and orange liqueur and gives a delicious boost to the cocktail without being overpowering.
  • Lime Wheel vs. Wedge? Lime wedges are typically used by bartenders in cocktails that need a little additional acidity. Mellow margaritas are crafted to be perfectly balanced, hence the wheel instead of the wedge! Lime complements the clean, fresh salinity in tequila, and helps enhance the citrus notes from the orange liqueur.

This drink offers a softer but richer flavor profile, with caramel, cocoa, and toasted oak flavors.
