You have been frugal, fiscally responsible, or lucky enough to pile up the $500,000 cash or cash-equivalent it takes to open a Mellow Mushroom.
Qualifications
We require you or one of your principals to have a background in restaurant operations as an owner, multi-unit franchise partner or operations management executive.
Qualifications
Franchisees sign a Franchise Agreement. Each restaurant has its own separate Franchise Agreement. Each agreement provides a 15-year right to operate as a Mellow Mushroom, and contains all terms and conditions pertaining to the operation of the restaurant.
Qualifications
Some franchisees may sign a Development Agreement. The Development Agreement provides the exclusive development rights for a specific number of restaurants over a particular period of time and in a territory agreed upon by HGI’s and the franchise developer.

    Operation Cost

    The total investment necessary to begin operation of a Mellow Mushroom® restaurant franchise ranges from $1,661,000 to $4,616,000. See pricing below to find which option fits your needs. Pricing includes between $78,000 and $113,500 that must be paid to the franchisor or affiliate. If you want development rights, you must pay us a development fee equal to $50,000 (the initial franchise fee for the first Restaurant) plus a $25,000 deposit for each additional Restaurant’s initial franchise fee.

    $1,661,000 - $2,506,000
    • Leasing shell premises for the Restaurant
    • Includes between $78,000 to $113,500 that must be paid to the franchisor or affiliate.

    Option 2

    $1,661,000 - $2,706,000
    • Leasing premises for the Restaurant that must be retrofit
    • Includes between $78,000 to $113,500 that must be paid to the franchisor or affiliate.

    Option 3

    $2,862,000 - $4,616,000
    • Buying the real estate upon which you will construct a new building for the Restaurant
    • Includes between $78,000 to $113,500 that must be paid to the franchisor or affiliate.
