Mellow Mushroom Atlanta – Emory - The Story

Open since the 1970s, this is an original Mellow Mushroom. The design reflects the old-school neighborhood restaurants, with one vintage green awning on one side of the building, and a purple awning on the other. The lower brickwork is painted purple and lined with green flower boxes. A psychedelic blue and teal mural wraps the wall to the entrance. On the roof, one of the original neon signs (Mel tossing a pizza) still signals it’s time to eat. Guests are part of the action, whether it’s on the large, welcoming patio or around the open kitchen. A brightly colored mural of a sun and a purple mushroom hangs behind the bar, inviting people to “Keep On Shroomin’.”

Customer Reviews

Great food, nice service. The ingredients are fresh especially the mushrooms. Today I ordered cloud 9 wings and a medium house special pizza. Love the thin crust that you can make it a roll! And won't feel too greasy like most pizza. Tbh this is my first time dining in at a Mellow Mushroom (although had many deliveries before) and it's beyond my expectations! Like the design of the menu as well!

The oldest operating Mellow Mushroom. Definitely our go-to for takeout and dine in pizza, partly because of proximity, but also consistency and pricing. As far as corporate pizza goes, far and away the best. Not better than Fellini's in my opinion, but it's a different style of pie.
