Our restaurant’s design inspiration is a fusion of 80’s punk and avant-garde literary figures. Our bright, colorful, and inviting setting is created from a variety of unique lighting fixtures, colorful booths, and solid walnut tabletops. Memorabilia from punk rock groups and a bright, literary themed mural (featuring reflections on the works of Ernest Hemingway, Edgar Allen Poe, Hunter S. Thompson, and William Shakespeare) adorn the walls.

Overall: great food, good vibes, superb staff. Upstairs area is not part of Mellow Mushroom restaurant. 96/100 on current (June 2022) health rating. Hostess and waiter were perfectly attentive, respectful, and responsive. Ordered a small Kosmic Karma for myself and was comfortably satisfied with 1/2 (2 slices). Music playing was rock-punk-alternative, slightly loud. Seats were filled 2/3 on Thursday evening. Would recommend for downtown Decatur Pizza spot.

Emma our Super hero🐝🦶🏻😜 server was one of the Best ever! She made our first time there awesome! The bruseetta that she recommended was amazing, and just as she described it. The atmosphere was very laid-back and inviting, especially since there is a patio with large TV's and cool ceiling fans. Great for people watching while sipping a delicious Feral margarita that she suggested. We will definitely return. 🥰👍🏽👌🏾

So I needed a cool and casual place to celebrate my son's 16th birthday with a family dinner. Mellow Mushroom doesn't take reservations but they did say if I came in about an hour before the time I needed (7pm/Saturday) they could do the best they could. We had a party of 20. I get there around 6:15 and they had an entire section at the ready! I was so elated! Our server, Ashley, was impeccable. As our guests came in somehow she was always at the ready to take an order, refill a drink, suggest drink pairings. Sh truly was the star of the place. Additionally, because we were a large party other servers stopped by to clear tables, bring menus,etc. Last but definitely not least the food was so,so good. Hot and fresh and not a long wait. It was the best experience! 10/10. Definitely recommend!!
