Mellow Mushroom St. Simons Island - The Story

Inspired by the local beach culture and the restaurant’s passion for repurposing everything from 45s to golf bags, the store features reclaimed decorations and structures. Inside, reclaimed barn wood was individually placed and laid. There are benches made out of driftwood from Thailand. One of the structural columns in the restaurant is the trunk of a tree taken down from another island conditioned to use as a beam. It makes up the base of the “family tree” over which recycled frames branch out to display photos of the owner's families and nostalgic photos of the island. Old 45s have been crafted into decorative butterflies. Artists have contributed pieces like the wave made out of recycled pallets and frames made of driftwood from Sea Island. Homage is paid to the island’s love of golf by commemorating old golf bags from local legends and customers. The exterior boasts the simple elegance of cedar shingles and a patio that’s shaded by a 300-year-old oak tree. Even the patio furniture is made from recycled Coke bottles (111 bottles per chair, to be precise).

About Mellow Mushroom St. Simons Island

Located near Neptune Park, the restaurant has been a favorite since 2015. Our guests come in regularly for the very best pizza, cold beer, craft cocktails, a fun atmosphere, and a great time! We are proud to support local arts, schools, and community events.

Fantastic meal! My wife and I just got into town this evening and we’re looking for a place to grab an early dinner/late lunch. Per island time many places do not open for dinner till 5, but we knew MM is usually open from lunch through closing after dinner so we headed that way. Our server was fantastic. Our table on the deck was equally nice. The salad and small pizzas were exactly what we were wanting. No doubt we will return when we are on the island.

As always, Mellow Mushroom never disappoints. What a lively location. Their outdoor eating patio looks amazing with nature all around. Inside the eatery was well decorated and clean. You'll never regret getting your pizza here. It's on the pricy side, but worth it. Great joint.

A+ on the whole outdoor dining experience. The Cloud 9 wings, pizza and brownie sundae were unbelievably good. We're definitely coming back the next chance we get.

Great place to dine in, food are super tasty and fresh. Staff are very friendly. Loved it and had tons of fun with friends and will love to visit back with family!
