Mellow Mushroom Savannah - The Story

The rich history of Downtown Savannah is brought into the restaurant with themes that allude to the city’s rumrunning and moonshining past, hints at its strong Irish heritage, and the influential music that came from this coastal city. Guests are greeted by a mural of colorful glass bottles that compliments the bar’s motif of an old speakeasy. The dining area transforms the space into a secret garden, with swirling lines and whimsical imagery featuring references to local musician Emma Kelly. Finally, the back of the restaurant displays lattice framework and a large fairy sculpture hidden around a corner.

About Mellow Mushroom Savannah

Located in the North Historic District of downtown, Mellow Mushroom Savannah is an easy stop for visitors to the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and historic downtown Savannah squares, and a favorite of area locals who come in regularly for the very best pizza, cold beer, craft cocktails, unique atmosphere, and a great time.

In town for a conference, this restaurant is on the same block. It was absolutely amazing! Best bar I’ve been to in the neighborhood and the pizza was to die for! Service was quite amazing too! My colleague enjoyed her gluten free pizza too!

Knew it was a chain going in but was surprised by the quality of the pizza. The mushroom speciality pizza was my favorite and I wished we had ordered larger pies, that way I could have saved some for later that night. The restaurant was clean and I was impressed by the service. They were very attentive and quick with refills for our drinks. Overall the experience makes me want to seek out other mellow mushroom locations when traveling.

I’ve wanted to visit a mellow mushroom establishment since a couple of months ago, finally did it and had a great experience, our server was super sweet and friendly, she helped us a lot with our questions on the menu. I ordered the sangria, which was great. And I ate a veg out pizza which was great, my friend got the holy shiitake pie, also really tasty. We’ll come back again because the menu looks delicious and I love that they do trivia nights.

Pictured below is the small Buffalo Chicken pizza. It’s really good. It does have a lot of crust, but the crust is cooked to perfection. It’s a bit noisy inside, but the staff are very friendly and helpful. I recommend this place and the food.
