Mellow Mushroom Greensboro - The Story

Inspired by cathedrals, the restaurant is filled with vintage details. The exterior of the white brick building has a grand entrance with a cathedral-inspired awning and circular artwork reminiscent of a cathedral window. A Mellow Mushroom sign in detailed, medieval lettering hangs above large windows, each with its own stained-glass panel. Guests can dine on the spacious outdoor patio, which is shaded by awnings and surrounded by lush planters. Inside, several vintage chandeliers hang from the vaulted ceilings. The bar area features purple chairs and a purple ceiling, providing a regal touch to the space. Stained glass windows, rich wood accents, and a stone wall round out the sophisticated cathedral theme.

About Mellow Mushroom Greensboro

Located near the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the International Civil Rights Center and Museum, our restaurant has been a local favorite since 2009. It is a nice place to eat with your family and friends. This place has friendly and helpful staff. It has delicious pizzas that you must try. Most of the time it is crowded, especially on weekends. They refill your soft drinks like Coca Cola for free.

By far the best most exciting pizza experience in Greensboro. Food so hot and fresh and unique along with good vibes, great nostalgic music and helpful knowledgeable staff gives you a 5 star appeal and an appreciation for this local staple. Made My Birthday extra special this year.

Delicious as expected. I’m very fond of Mellow Mushroom pizza and am not usually disappointed when I go. This was again a time of not being disappointed. Cute atmosphere with many different chandeliers for lighting and a lot of seating available. My server was very friendly. I asked about their sour beers and she let me sample some before ordering anything. Very grateful for this, as I normally like sour beers, but didn’t like any of the options. I ended up going with a brown ale instead. Also beer selection was huge if you’re a beer fan! I ordered a small Maui Wowie pizza. This has pesto, mozzarella, ham, pineapple, jerk chicken, banana peppers and apple wood smoked bacon. I really like the flavor and toppings, although I might have left off the banana peppers next time. Would go back!

The Holy Shiitake Pie is to die for, it’s very rich and a small is perfect for me and the lady with an appetizer. They added some cloud 9 wings to the menu, they make good baked wings. I’ve tried the meatball pizza and a sausage as well, the sausage was crumbled and their crust has a nice flavor. Fortunately the pizza is delightful as my first time there a month ago was very lack luster with our server who didn’t appear to care about her job. However our server last weekend was top notch and it just goes to show the pride some people have with a can do customer service attitude.

I got an amazing gluten free dairy free pizza. It was also low fodmap. Gluten free crust, plain olive oil as the base, vegan cheese, Roma tomatoes and bacon. Amazing pizza, and they were super helpful with my restrictions. Edit: please clarify that you want the plain olive oil as they do have garlic olive oil. I made this mistake and regret it. (Still great place, just let them know you have intolerances/allergies before ordering)
