Mellow Mushroom Johnson City - The Story

Inspired by the 70's, the restaurant features bright murals and tie-dyed tapestries. The exterior of the building has a contemporary feel, with light paint, dark wood slats, and bright pops of color. Guests can dine on the spacious outdoor patio that features bright furniture and pergola-inspired awnings. A large painting hangs above the entrance outside, setting the tone for the restaurant’s interior. Inside, the walls are covered with bright murals and bold wall tiles. Above, tie-dyed tapestries hang from the ceiling, and cam lighting illuminates the space. The colorful seating, neon lights, and beloved “flour power” sign emphasize the 70's feel of the restaurant.

About Mellow Mushroom Johnson City

Located near the TVA Credit Union Ballpark and East Tennessee State University, the restaurant has been a favorite for locals and students since 2009. Our guests come in for the very best pizza, cold beer, craft cocktails, a vibrant atmosphere, and a great time! We are proud to sponsor local sports teams and events.

first time at this particular location. sat at the bar. arrived around 5pm. not real busy. bartender came over fairly quickly. got a couple beers (during the course of my stay). ordered a pizza...which i changed the order...and was handled very well. received my pizza very quickly. pizza was absolutely awesome. i was very happy with the service and the food. i would definitely come back to this location.

I can be picky but the never fail place to go in our home is the Mellow. The food takes a minute to receive but the flavor always makes it worth the wait. Food quality to price you won't be disappointed over. The staff will quickly remember your face which is always a better experience.

Always good food. But I do wish they didn't increase their pricing AGAIN recently as it was already expensive enough before this inflation. $20 for JUST a cheese pizza seems steep. But for once in a while pizza, it works. 🤷‍♀️
