Mellow Mushroom on The Island in Pigeon Forge - The Story
The brick and blue wood panel building has a classic baked Mellow vibe. The Mellow character Mel towers over twice the height of the door, welcoming guests. Just inside, a peace sign chandelier at the entrance sets the groovy tone. The walls have a metal artwork of a mushroom and letters that spell out “We’ve Been Baked since 1974.” A mural with ribbons of blue, purple, orange, and green swirling around a large “M” flanks the bar. Above the ordering counter, a mural of a sun with lyrics from sun-themed songs is featured in the rays. The kitchen is filled with pop culture stickers the store has collected over the years. Guests can enjoy dining outside at the attached Dude's Daiquiri bar.
I was a little skeptical to have pizza down south since I live not too far from NYC, so I am spoiled with a bajillion awesome pizza places. That being said, this place didn't disappoint. The mozzarella was high quality, there wasn't too much or too little sauce, and it came out hot and quick. I'm personally most of a thin crust kinda guy and I prefer my crust to be plain. One of my friends raved about the crust since it was basically garlic bread, so he thoroughly enjoyed that addition. If I'm ever on the island again I'd consider coming to this pizza restaurant again. I enjoyed the atmosphere as well. Was very relaxed and chill. The main downside is that it is somewhat expensive. But, we were in a tourist trap area, so that is more or less to be expected.
Great Pizza! I do feel like it's overpriced. I had the Pepperoni & Pineapple and my wife had Mushroom. Came out hot and fresh from the oven!
First time going and it was good. The white pizza by far is my favorite and there pretzel bites with there beer cheese is so good. Definitely will be going back
We know Pizza! This pizza was surprising very good. Good dough. Amazing options for toppings. Obviously over priced (small pizza over $15), you pay for location and atmosphere but worth it.
