Mellow Mushroom - Short Pump

Find the best pizza in Henrico Virginia at the Mellow Mushroom in the Green Gate Shopping Center. All pizzas are made to order and with over 40 ingredients, customization is encouraged. The secret to the best pizza pie in Henrico starts with the crust. At Mellow Mushroom, the crust is made with unbleached and unbromated flour and fresh Appalachian spring water. And, because we are inclusive of everyone’s needs, many of our pizzas can be made gluten-free or vegan.

Add the Enlightened Salad or any of the other fresh Mellow Mushroom salads to your pizza order to make dinner or lunch that much more delicious. Start any meal with one of the tasty dishes from the appetizer menu, called Munchies. Hoagies, Sandwiches, Calzones and our very own Ritz Burger are other Mellow menu favorites.

There are 42 beers on tap to complement all the delicious food, and many of them are local favorites from breweries in and around Virginia. A full bar featuring craft cocktails adds to the experience at this pizza joint.

Mellow Mushroom Short Pump - The Story

The design of the Mellow Mushroom in Green Gate Shipping Center in Henrico Virginia pays homage to the Jazz age of the Roaring Twenties and the speak easies made popular during Prohibition. From the vintage roadster parked at the entryway to an authentic moonshine still that sits immediately behind the host station the mood is set for a step back in time. Customers can choose between booths created from freight elevators or those created from whiskey barrels. The walls are decorated with murals depicting early 20th century Richmond and in the evenings look for a holographic projection slideshow illuminating the entrance area windows.

Much of the local art featured at the Mellow Mushroom in Henrico pays tribute to the entertainment community that Richmond was known for in the 1920’s including big stars like Billie Holiday and Django Reinhardt. The artists featured at this restaurant include Wayne Cain of Cain Architectural Art Glass, Mickael Broth, Ross Trimmer, Nicholas Daily and Dustin K.

About Mellow Mushroom Short Pump

At Mellow Mushroom in Henrico our motto is “Anything you see here, we can do. For a chain restaurant this place is above average. The food was decent. Personally, I thought my son’s pizza was a little on the bland side, but still good. The vegan sub I got was also good. Not great, but worth the price. The atmosphere was nice, and the server was INCREDIBLY friendly, like one of those guys who seemed like he actually loved his job. I know servers, and their job can be thankless, so any server who puts the extra effort into being polite and friendly always gets extra points in my book, as well as a better than average tip. I will definitely be going there again.

So glad we happened upon this Mellow Mushroom in Short Pump. The customer service was great from the greeting to dessert. We loved the light of the open floor plan. You have to try the Esperanza dressing on a salad and the House Specialty pizza was the best! The key lime ice cream sandwich was the grand finale.

Great option for quick takeout, especially when you just want a "different" pizza than the usual. No one does pizza dough quite like MM, and their menu of specialties really covers the gamut of pizza possibilities. Holy Shiitake really hits the spot and lives up to the name...I can't think of a more flavorful mushroom pizza.
